A few months before the movie hit the big screen, Disney pulled its Maui costume after it was deemed to be cultural appropriation. Since Cosplay became so popular all over the world, there are numerous events and fan conventions for Cosplayers and some of them became extremely famous. It disappeared after generating much excitement internationally among science-fiction fans, hearkening to Stanley Kubrick’s 1968 film, “2001: A Space Odyssey,” based on a novel by Arthur C. Clarke.
